'Ghost cabs' undercutting licensed cabbies in Wales

Perry Richardson

Taxi drivers in Abergavenny are outraged at being undercut by 'ghost cabs' who are plying for hire unlicensed with no insurance or medical checks.

The drivers in the Welsh town have accused the local authority of stepping back and 'doing nothing' to tackle the growing problem facing the trade.

With tensions rising local cabbies have been collecting evidence of the unlicensed cars working ranks at knock down prices due to lower costs. However, the local council have so far ignored all evidence provided.

Work levels, like the rest of the UK, are currently low in Abergavenny. Taxi drivers simply can't afford to see their work taken by unlawful cars pretending to be cabs.
