Roll up, roll up! Daimler backed Via the latest to launch in London

For the last five years Uber have seen little in the way of competition from other private hire app services. Roll on to September 2017 and we see two new entrants into the market.

First off is Taxify. They have entered the London market via the back door using an existing private hire operators licence to justify their launch against the wishes of regulator Transport for London. We'll see how that one pans out in the coming weeks.

The other rival set to saturate the private hire market further is the Daimler backed Via.

The German car giant plans to be the answer to carpooling in the capital. However with carpooling widely rejected, even at the low prices Uber has to offer, it's hard to see how they can change Londoners perception on sharing a car with a stranger.

With Uber on the ropes expect to see more late comers to the private hire party in the near future. The smell of investors money burning could become intoxicatingly strong in the capital.
