Minicab driver jailed for beating passengers with an iron bar

Updated: Apr 3, 2025

A driver who was working for minicab firm, Maxcabs, Accrington, has been jailed for launching an horrifically violent attack on his passengers because they accidentally touched his hair. The court heard, Nabeel Iqbal, picked up 2 male passengers, when one of them accidentally brushed his hair whilst adjusting the head rest. Mr Iqbal was said to of blasted into a rage shouting; "Get off my hair. Don't touch my hair. Don't touch my f##king hair" The 2 passengers, Adam Wright, and a younger man, began to laugh, Nabeel then said "You won't be laughing in a minute!" Once Nabeel Iqbal dropped off the passengers, it's believed he went and called an accomplice and returned to confront Mr Wright and his friend. They then began to beat their victims with what has been described as a 'wheel brace' type weapon.

What was a minor altercation originally inside the minicab quickly escalated into a terrible and ferocious attack on helpless victims.

As reported in the Manchester Evening News; Mr Iqbal, 25, of Countess Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to two counts of wounding and was jailed for 32 months at Burnley Crown Court.
