Have TfL "Ubered" Uber

Well, if Uber were hoping to curry favour from Transport  for London and expect a swift renewing of their operators license by issuing a heartfelt apology via a personal visit by new Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi then they may well be highly dissapointed.

The London market is now to all intents and purposes Uber's European flagship where they boast around 40000 drivers with approximately 3.5 million Londoners having downloaded their app since their arrival in the UK around 5 and a half years ago.

It has emerged today however that the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has said that Transport for London will defend its decision not to renew Uber’s license.

This could be a major blow to Uber as The Mayor stated that Transport for London  would be sticking to its guns during Mayor’s Question Time.

Last month Transport for London announced that it would not be renewing Uber’s license due to its alleged lack of corporate responsibility relating to a myriad of issues which could have both public safety and security implications. Among the concerns relating to Ubers licence not being renewed were: Uber’s approach to reporting serious criminal offences to the police; discrepancies surrounding how medical certificates are obtained; issues surrounding Disclosure Barring Service background; and Ubers use of Greyball software.

It seems that Uber's troubles are mounting to an unprecendented level given the amunt of court cases that have been undertaken against them worldwide. Dara Khosrowshahi seems to have a taken on a major fire-fighting project in relation to turning Ubers reputation around.
