Birmingham cabbie arrested on Heathrow drug run charges
Adnan Ahmed Malik, a cab driver from Edgbaston, was arrested by the National Crime Agency , along with 3 other men, for attempting to smuggle class A drugs from Heathrow airport to his home City. The 24 year old now faces a lengthy jail term. Malik, denied the charges of conspiring to import drugs but was found guilty following an eight day trial in Birmingham Crown Court. The court heard Vaughn Henry, 24, and Dev Anand, 24, worked together as baggage handlers at Heathrow airport. They collected the bag which contained three kilos of high purity cocaine which arrived from Brazil. Anand then gave the bag to Henry who stored it in his staff locker. That evening cab driver Malik was waiting just outside the airport to collect the drugs and transport them- this is when the National Crime Agency officers swooped in to make the arrests. All four men will be sentenced at the same court on November 3.
