New T-Charge could be worth £65,000 per day
The new "T-charge" fine begins in London today which could net Transport for London £65,000 each day.
The T-charge is aimed at what are perceived to be the capital's heaviest polluters, older diesel vehicles, who will be required to pay £10 plus the £11.50 Congestion Charge.
London Taxis are exempt from the charge. Private Hire vehicles are also exempt so long as they have a booking in the area.
Around 6,500 vehicles are expected to fall into the T-charge category which will come in to force every weekday between 7am and 6pm.
The potential large sum of money will go towards helping making Transport for London self sufficient as funding from central government is reduced.
