Ford preparing to launch new service Chariot to rival Uber in London
In an already crowded transportation market, vehicle manufacturing giant, Ford, are looking to launch a 'Bus-like' service in London. The service will be named Chariot according to reports in The Telegraph and will run fixed routes along travel hotspots. Chariots minivan will be capable of transporting 15 passengers who will be able to pay for the journey through an app on their phone. Data collected will be used to design new routes and service areas that are currently struggling to offer easy transportation options. London will be Chariots first international venture outside of the United States, where it already operates in cities such as San Francisco, Seattle, Austin and New York. Ford are currently on the lookout for a general manager for their London operations. There have been no reports of a licence application being submitted to Transport For London yet, but with Uber currently battling to keep their licence in the Capital, maybe Ford will see this as the perfect opportunity to offer an alternative product.
