Cabbie stabbed multiple times in Moss side attack

A cab driver has been stabbed multiple times in a brutal attack in Manchester's notorious Moss Side area.

A neighbour who witnessed the aftermath told the Manchester Evening News that the victim managed to get out of his vehicle and knock on doors pleading for help.

The victim is believed to of sustained multiple stab wounds to his arms and stomach.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said:

"Shortly before 8.10pm on Saturday 11 November 2017, police were called to reports that a taxi driver had been stabbed on Ruskin Avenue, Moss Side. "Emergency services attended and a man was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. "Enquiries are on-going. "Anybody with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 2017 of 11/11/17, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."

Greater Manchester Police Detective Inspector, Geoff Machent said:

“This was a disgusting attack on an unsuspecting man who was trying to do his job and provide a service to members of the public.

“We have been carrying out significant lines of enquiry since last night and have now established that the offender was picked up on Dickenson Road in Longsight before being taken to Ruskin Avenue where he launched his attack.

“Thankfully the taxi driver’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening however this could easily have been a different story.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who believes they may have any information which they think could help us find the person responsible so that they can be brought to justice.”

A motive behind the attack has yet to be established.
