A court has heard today how a Gloucestershire taxi driver saved a 13 year old girl from a dangerous peadophile who fantasised about murdering children.
39 year old Satbir Singh became concerned after the girl had hired him to take her Gloucester Station, and subsequently asked his wife to alert police Gloucestershire Live reported.
24 year old Sam Hewings from Cam met the girl online and persuaded her to take a taxi to Gloucester Station, with the intent of meeting her there.
Upon being arrested a few hours after the meeting was supposed to occur police found two knives, duct tape and container filled with co-codamol tablets. Hewings later admitted to police the possession and distribution of child porn.
Prosecutor Giles Nelson told the court: "Mr Singh behaved in an exemplary manner. He was suspicious of what was transpiring and he recorded the call. He also discussed his concerns with his wife."
Hewings was jailed for five years and placed on the sex offenders register for life. A lifelong sexual harm prevention order was also made against him.
