Assaulted cabby calls for more protection

Perry Richardson

A Watford cabby is calling for more protection after being attacked by two of his passengers.

Muhammad Ghafar was attacked after informing his passengers that it was company policy for customers to pay up front late at night.

The cabby was then attacked, which led to him suffering back injuries, as well as a broken mobile phone and a smashed windscreen.

Mr Ghafar has said "I’m really scared at the moment and not working as I have been left with back problems since the attack after they grabbed my shoulders and twisted my back.” He has called for more police protection from intimidation and threats from customers.

Hertfordshire Police are investigating the incident.
