New motorway fines and penalties to be introduced in Spring 2018
Taxi drivers and other road users could be hit with new fines whilst using England's motorways if they don't follow basic "smart" instructions.
The Highways Agency (England) are set to introduce cameras which would automatically capture drivers breaking the law and hit them with fines of £100 and three points respectively.
According to sources the new cameras on Smart Motorways are set to be switched on in Spring 2018 and bring in approximately £250,000 each year.

Smart Motorways adapt to live traffic updates and allow the use of the hard shoulder at peak times. They also use variable speed limits which relate to current driving conditions.
So if you see any of the signs above come March... it might be worth taking note!
