London black cabbies to pave the way for autonomous vehicles?

According to a report in Autoexpress London will see around 500 of it's iconic Taxi's fitted with state of the art data logging systems which will pave the way for autonomous vehicles to operate on it's streets. Sources say an agreement between tech and ride-hailing companies as well as government authorities will see the black taxis kitted out with mapping equipment. The project which is due to start in early 2019, will see the vehicles using advanced driver assistance systems, a network of "high definition crowd sourced maps" will be created for autonomous vehicles to use in the future. Will there be 500 Taxi drivers willing to participate in a project that could contribute to their future demise? Let us know what you think.
