Day Two: Taxi protest brings traffic to a standstill

Perry Richardson

A second day of demonstrations took place in Marble Arch today in protest against taxi and private hire regulators Transport for London.

Numerous taxis took to the streets to support a list of 13 different grievances put forward by the driver-led group ITA.

This action follows a similar protest south of the capital’s river in Elephant and Castle. Three more days of action are planned in different London locations this week.

A spokesperson from TfL yesterday said: "The law stipulates that operators can continue until any appeals process is exhausted. “We urge the organisers to call the protests off."
