Flashing lights and weird noises -- the future of city roads? If autonomous vehicle firms get their way, this could be what we have to look forward to. If you think the car horn is an annoying sound, wait until you hear what could be in store for the future of autonomous vehicles. Let's hope that all autonomous vehicles speak the same language otherwise things could get messy really quickly. 

Uber thinks it may have arrived at a solution. In a recent patent application, the ride-hailing giant proposes wrapping its self-driving cars in flashing signs to effectively communicate messages to pedestrians and others around it.
