Toyota also suspend their autonomous vehicle testing following fatal collision

Japanese automaker Toyota have decided to put their autonomous vehicle testing on public roads on hold following the tragic death of a pedestrian who was killed by one of Uber's autonomous vehicles. The company has made the decision so it's staff can "emotionally process" what has happened and come to terms with it. The tragic incident took place on Sunday when a female pushing a bicycle crossed the road when she was hit by the autonomous vehicle, which although having a driver behind the wheel, was in full autonomous mode at the time of the collision. Toyota will continue tests of it's autonomous program on closed circuits, but all of its testing on public roads at all locations including Japan and the US states of California and Michigan, will now be on hold. Investigations are underway to determine what was the exact cause of the fatal collision.
