64 year old Private Hire Driver punched unconscious during unprovoked attack in Kent

A 64 year old private hire driver was brutally beaten in what can only be described as an unprovoked attack while he was sitting behind the wheel of his vehicle waiting by the side of the road. Rob King, a grandfather who works for minicab firm Royal Taxis in Blue Town was knocked unconscious during the assault that left him with bad cuts and bruises. One of King's front teeth was also knocked out. King was taken to Maritime Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and later released. The attack happened in the early hours of Sunday July 1, when Mr King was waiting for his fare outside the Cyprus Kebab and pizza shop on Sheerness High Street. Without any warning the attacker walked up to King's driver-side window and began to reign punches into the side of his face. King who was a former champion boxer was unable to react before he lost consciousness. King is now left too scared to work, leaving him without the income of the job. According to a report in the KentOnline, police have arrested a 19-year-old man from Sheerness who has been charged with actual bodily harm and will appear at Maidstone Magistrates Court on Thursday, July 26.
