Sony join the ride-hailing market with the launch of "S.RIDE" Taxi app in Tokyo

Electronics giant Sony, have set out on their own taxi venture with the launch of their own ride-hailing app named "S.RIDE" in Tokyo.

Everybody's taxi is a joint venture of Sony and Sony payment service along with five taxi companies in Tokyo (Green Cab, International Motor Vehicles, Kotobuki Kotsu, Daiwa Car Transportation, Checker Cab).

The taxi vehicles owned by five taxi companies currently exceed 10,000, the largest in Tokyo. Sony have said that the taxi allocation app name "S.RIDE" symbolizes a new taxi experience that provides a Simple, Smart, Speedy ride experience. With one slide, you can call the nearest taxi from the largest taxi network in Tokyo. After launching the app, the closest taxi from Tokyo's largest taxi network will pick you up with One Slide immediately. The taxi pick-up position is automatically adjusted to the closest road from the current location, so it does not have to be set up on your own.

In a press release, the company said: "we plan to expand services such as supply and demand forecasting service using AI technology within this fiscal year.

"We will continue to promote collaboration with partners who have strengths in various business areas, and maintain an environment where taxi operators throughout the country can use the services provided by everyone's taxis, as well as safe, secure and comfortable travel experiences We will pursue mobility services that lead to a richer society through"
