Essex cabbie fights off knife wielding man who demanded a free trip to Stansted Airport

Essex Police have arrested a man following reports that a taxi driver had been threatened with a knife in Colchester this morning, Friday 24 July.


Officers received reports that a man held a knife to the victim in North Station Road at around 12.50am.

The driver reported that he was asked to drive to Stansted Airport.

The victim managed to bravely get the man out of his taxi before he was arrested by police officers within 10 minutes.


An 18-year-old man from Kilburn, London, remains in custody on suspicion of possession of a knife, making threats to kill, common assault and making off without payment.
