FINED: Nottingham Council enforcement officer warns motorists to not park on taxi chargepoints

A Nottingham Council enforcement officer warned motorists to check where they charge their electric vehicles after handing one driver a parking fine for parking up at a taxi dedicated chargepoint.

The driver was found parking on one of the two taxi dedicated rapid chargers located on Hanley Street.

Nottingham Council is at the forefront when it comes to transitioning taxis to greener black cabs. The city is home to the UK’s only wireless charging taxi rank (WiCET trial).

By providing accessible chargepoints to the taxi industry it is hoped that more cabbies will make the change to electric black cabs.

Jonathan Holmes, a Nottingham Council Civil Enforcement Officer, said: “If you see an electric charging point, don’t assume you can use it as some have restrictions like this one.”
