FINES BEGIN: Taxi drivers and motorists start receiving PCNs for Tottenham Court Road restrictions
Taxi drivers have begun receiving Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) for driving through the controversial Tottenham Court Road restrictions.
Back in February 2021 Camden’s Gower Street and Bloomsbury Street turned two way between Grafton Way and High Holborn. Soon after that new traffic restrictions put in place on Tottenham Court Road (TCR) also became active. Since then, TCR has been restricted to buses and cyclists only Monday – Saturday 8am-7pm.
It was noted by some in the taxi industry that new ANPR technology was being installed along TCR. Taxi drivers have now shared images of the first PCN’s dished out by Camden for driving through the restrictions.
Taxi driver representatives from both United Cabbies Group (UCG) and Licensed Taxi Drivers’ Association (LTDA) have warned their members of the recent fines being received by cabbies.
A LTDA spokesperson said: “We are starting to receive calls from members regarding PCNs issued for TCR please be aware.”
