GUILTY: Driver to pay over £1,100 after found working as a Birmingham PHV driver without a licence



A driver working as a private hire vehicle (PHV) driver without a valid licence was found guilty in Birmingham yesterday.

The unnamed driver was prosecuted at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Monday 6 March.

Birmingham City Council (BCC) shared details of the case which found the driver guilty of driving a PHV without a licence or correct insurance.


The courts hit the motorist with fines and costs totalling £1,179.45, The driver was also handed 6 penalty points on their driver's licence.

A BCC Licensing spokesperson said: “Driver prosecuted at Birmingham Magistrates court for driving a PHV without a licence to do so and no insurance, total fine with costs = £1179.45 and 6 points on his licence.”
