Halifax cabbie jailed for drug offences after getting caught with £10,570 worth of sleeping pills

A cab driver has been jailed after he was caught with thousands of pounds' worth of drugs after a stop and search by police in Halifax.


The driver, who dealt the Class C sleeping pill drugs from his vehicle, has been jailed for a total of 21 months.

Iftiqar Ali, 52, who had been a licensed cabbie since 2017, was caught with a £10,570 stash worth of drugs at his home following his stop and search on 28 February 2020 on Shay Lane Halifax.

Ali had Diazapam tablets in his hand at the time of the stop and search, which led the police to search his home. During the search, officers found a stash of over 10,000 tablets consisting of Diazapam, Etizolam and Tamazepam.


Ali was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court to 21 months in jail.
