Hampshire taxi firm enters eighth week helping those in need of prescriptions during lockdown

A local Hampshire taxi and private hire firm has entered its eighth week helping those in need during the COVID-19 lockdown period.

AJL Cars, who are based in Whitehill, took it upon themselves to start a free prescription delivery service in the local area covering Bordon, Lindford, Whitehill and Headley.

Mike Stevens of AJL Cars decided he wanted to “give something back to the area after 30 years of trading” in Hampshire.

Stevens said: “Within the week Bordon Buddies got in touch and between us with them giving our contact number out and us reciprocating we have this week delivered around 500 prescriptions in the area.

“We have worked with the two main pharmacies, mainly Badgerswood and

The Chase in Bordon to streamline collections and prioritising refrigerated and urgent prescriptions.”

The free service has been operational for eight weeks since lockdown measures were first announced. The firm were able to help immediately with staff holding enhanced DBS certificates.

Stevens added: “We would like to express our thanks to Kevin and Don at The Chase pharmacy, Wanda and Liz at Badgerswood and also Boots in the Forest Centre and all the counter staff for seamless delivery to us in helping us put this together.”
