Hundreds of iconic black taxis pay respects to HRH Prince Philip with Buckingham Palace convoy

Hundreds of traditional black cabs lined up outside Buckingham Palace and along The Mall to pay their respects to HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh who sadly died today.
Taxi drivers working in the capital quickly arranged a convoy of taxis stretching the length of The Mall.
The LTDA shared a photo showing the huge gathering of vehicles, along with a message simply saying ‘paying our respect’.
It a statement made by the Royal Family at midday today it read: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”
Philip, who died aged 99, had returned to Windsor Castle on 16 March after spending a month in hospital.
An official notice of the Duke’s death was traditionally posted outside Buckingham Palace, but was quickly removed shortly afterwards to stop crowds gathering.
