Police investigate reported assault after man falls asleep in taxi home from night out in Manchester

Derbyshire Constabulary have released an image of a taxi driver they would like to speak to following an allegation of assault in a taxi.

A 29-year-old man who had been on a night out in Manchester got a taxi back to his home in the Ashbourne area. The man reported being assaulted by the male taxi driver after falling asleep in the front passenger seat during his journey home.

The victim got out of the taxi, realising he was close to home, and ran the rest of the way.

The incident happened sometime between 3.30am and 4am on 29 August. Officers have been following several lines of enquiry since it was reported.

Police officers are keen to speak with the man pictured, as it is believed he could assist with their enquiries.
