A four-year-old girl was found wandering the streets of Essex alone with nothing more than a pram full of toys at 2am in the morning.
Essex Police praised the quick thinking of a local taxi driver who assisted with the safety of the girl in the early hours of the morning.
The girl is said to have told the taxi driver she was going to visit her grandparents, according to Southend Echo-News.
Another news source, the Daily Mail, names the taxi driver as John Busuttil, 52, who described the little girl confidently walking along the street in a brown bear-like onesie which had ears on.
The police said the male taxi driver looked after the girl until police officers arrived and then located the four-year-old's parents.
No action was taken against the family, although social services have been notified which police say is policy for these type of incidents.
An Essex Police spokesperson told TaxiPoint: “We were called by a taxi driver at around 2.25am on Saturday 30 November after he discovered a four-year-old girl walking in Ashingdon Road, Rochford.
“The man looked after the girl before we arrived and took her to a place of safety.
“We managed to locate the girl’s parents and we are satisfied that no offences have been committed.
“We were also satisfied that the child was safe to be left at home.
“Our officers have made a social services referral, which is policy in these kinds of incidents.
“We would like to extend our thanks to the taxi driver for his quick and kind actions.”
