TfL warns taxi drivers and motorists of ‘long queues’ as Farringdon Street shuts until early September
Transport for London (TfL) has announced that Farringdon Street will be closed to northbound traffic from Monday 27 May until early September. This is due to essential gas main replacement works being conducted by Cadent Gas.
The closure will affect the stretch between Ludgate Circus and Charterhouse Street. To circumvent the closure, drivers will be rerouted via Fleet Street, Fetter Lane, New Fetter Lane, Holborn Circus, and Charterhouse Street.
Taxi drivers and other motorists are advised to expect significant delays and long queues, especially along the diversion route. Several bus routes will also be affected by the ongoing works.
TfL and Cadent Gas are asking everyone who needs to travel through this area to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journey. The works are said to be part of a broader initiative to enhance the gas network across London, aiming to ensure a more reliable service in the future.
Travellers seeking more information or updates on the works can consult the TfL website or contact their customer service for assistance.
