GP suspended for issuing false Private Hire medicals

11 Jul 2017

A GP has been banned for 12 months after an undercover reporter recorded him actively selling private hire medical certification to drivers without actually conducting a medical examination.

Ashraful Haque Mirza, 42, from south London, admitted to a hearing in Manchester that he had signed off blood pressure and vision readings despite not performing the tests during the consultation.

Dr Mirza also admitted to the disciplinary panel that he signed a statement that he had seen the taxi drivers full medical records, when in fact he had not.

The number of private hire drivers whom benefited from Dr Mirza's actions is currently unknown
