Uber signs new deal with Geely owned Volvo to bring autonomous cars to its platform

20 Nov 2017

Volvo have signed an agreement with the controversial American minicab app Uber to bring autonomous vehicles to the platform.

Volvo, owned by the Geely who also own LEVC, have agreed to to produce tens of thousands of self-driving cars once the technology is ready for the market.

This partnership is nothing new though as nearly two years ago an agreement was out in place by the two parties when the minicab firm first started its research into driverless cars.

However, the new deal now means a bigger commitment and hugely increases the number of cars that could be appearing on the Uber platform.
