Gett out! Uber banned from operating carpooling in Israel

27 Nov 2017

According to reports in Haaretz , Uber's "Day" & "Night" service, which allows drivers to use private household vehicles to transport passengers in Israel, has been banned.

From 10am on Wednesday, Uber will no longer be able to run this service amidst insurance issues. A Tel Aviv judge issued an injunction to that effect on Monday.

Taxi app 'Gett', along with an association of Taxi drivers sued Uber over the issue. The Transportation Ministry also sued Uber in May, on the grounds that Israeli regulations forbids taking passengers for money unless one has a taxi license.
