Are Liverpool the next to pull the Uber plug?

17 Dec 2017

According to local media sources, Liverpool Council are said to be closely "monitoring" the situation with Uber and other local authorities around the UK.

The city's mayor Joe Anderson was quick to criticise the controversial American minicab firm claiming they were “putting profit before workers” and highlighted the growing cross-border hiring problems faced on Merseyside.

He said in the Liverpool Echo “We are going to look at and monitor what other cities are doing when it comes to Uber to see what we can learn from them.

“Allowing people to from other areas to our city without paying license fees is something we want to stop.

“The reality is that the framework of deregulation means they are allowed to do that.

Liverpool are just the latest city to express their concerns over Uber and their business model.
