London cabbies set to protest as group call for compensation

6 Jan 2018

A group of proactive drivers called the Independent Taxi Alliance have asked drivers in London to take part in a series of protests starting Monday 15th January.

The protest calls for compensation to be given to taxi drivers after learning that the current system used by minicab firm Uber maybe unlawful.

Documents were released to the public before the New Year which shows the full extent as to why Uber were not given a new operators licence in the capital. The letter from Transport for London stated “that Uber’s current operating model is accordingly unlawful”.

The ITA, who describe themselves as a driver led proactive organisation of licensed London taxi drivers, have called for a weeks worth of action to highlight the issue which kicks off Monday 15th January around Elephant and Castle.
