Uber puts a cap on working hours in the UK

16 Jan 2018

Uber drivers will be forced to take a six hour break after working ten hours on the app as of next week.

The move comes as the controversial minicab firm looks to promote driver and passenger safety in a bid to win back its operators licence in London.

The ten hour limit will only include working hours where a passsnger is onboard. It will not take into account the dead mileage generated looking for work.

According to an unnamed driver this actually equates to roughly 16 hours on shift. Another driver quotes 14 hours.

Andrew Byrne, Uber’s head of policy said “While drivers only spend an average of 30 hours a week logged into our app, we want to do our part to ensure they don’t drive tired,”
