Gett Volkswagen partnership initiatives emerge

20 Feb 2018

Several photos have emerged showing initiatives from Gett Volkswagen partnership which looks at the introduction of a new VW taxi to London, creation of “Gett Knowledge” on My VW app and “developing” Gett Premium.

The ride hailing app Gett have come under huge scrutiny within the taxi trade recently much of which centres around its Gett Porsche feature which allows minicabs on the black cab app for all users to use.

These latest photos, believed to have been taken mid-2017, may add further cause for concern. However, a Gett spokesperson was quick to say “no-one in the UK team created these images nor is anyone working on anything mentioned in them”.

The initiatives include replacing drivers Viano’s with an adapted version on the VW Transportter Shuttle. The photo goes on to say it will be “hard to be a VW business when your passengers are often collected in a Mercedes”.

Another idea was to develop “Gett Premium”. This entailed “a chauffeured service with the perks of a black cab (bus lane usage, drivers with the Knowledge) using VW’s CC’s”.

The other big idea to be highlighted was the creation of a “Gett Knowledge” function on the My VW app which would show the fastest way between two points.

Other initiatives include:

  • Using Gett taxis whilst VW owners service their vehicles

  • Discount to VW owners on key journeys and days ie airport fares and New Years Eve

  • Make Gett and Zip car usage a feature of VW finance

  • All VW owners get priority bookings and WiFi on Gett.

A spokesperson for Gett said:

“Gett is a global company with global initiatives so ideas of all kinds can originate from a range of sources. No-one in the UK team created these images nor is anyone working on anything mentioned in them.

“Gett continues to put millions of pounds of work every year into London Black Cabs - from the general public, our public sector contracts, and business accounts thanks to One Transport - and there are no plans to change that.”
