Estonian ride hailing app Taxify are set to make a fresh bid to return to London after applying for a private hire operators licence this month.

The startup currently operates in 26 different countries, but was forced out of London after just three days in December 2017.

It is yet to be known whether regulators Transport for London will grant Taxify a licence following the previous fiasco surrounding their entry into the capital. The name of the minicab firm, which contains the word “Taxi”, will also provide a further stumbling block.

In December 2017 Taxify were fined £250 plus £10,000 legal fees for trying to enter the London market via the backdoor. The minicab firm, who charges even less than rivals Uber, purchased an existing small local operating licence after failing to win their own.

In the 160 page operator licence application submitted this month, Taxify admit to a “major error of judgment”.
