Taxicard service to be axed in Dundee

2 Mar 2018

It has been revealed that Dundee City Council will be axing their Taxicard scheme.

In a move that has sparked fury amongst some of the disabled community, Dundee City Council will be ending the Taxicard scheme at the end of March, in favour of investing £50,000 on an alternative transport scheme.

A new "members only" minibus scheme called Blether Buses will be replacing the Taxicard scheme, which will ferry vulnerable passengers to and from shops, GPs and other vital locations.

The Taxicard scheme was first launched by Tayside Regional Council in 1992 and was specifically designed to help those who were unable to use other modes of transport.

The minibus scheme will start trials at the beginning of March.
