Tensions rise as black cab driver stabs minicab driver in London

30 May 2018

Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident near to Euston Railway Station in which a minicab driver was seriously assaulted.

At around 17:40hrs on Friday, 18 May, there was an altercation between the driver of a minicab and the driver of a black London taxi on Eversholt Street, NW1.

During the incident - which appears to have been motivated by anger at inconsiderate driving - the minicab driver sustained a small stab wound to his right shoulder, believed to have been caused by a screwdriver.

The 34-year-old man was taken to hospital where he was treated and discharged later that evening.

The taxi driver - a 51-year-old man - was arrested on Thursday, 24 May on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He has been released under investigation.

Officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating.

PC Mungo Elliott, of the Met's Taxi & Private Hire Policing Team, said: "The Eversholt Street area was crowded at the time, including a large number of people who were gathered outside the Royal George pub.

"I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the altercation or the moments leading up to it to call police and tell us what they saw."
