Mayor Sadiq Khan has announced a crackdown on "golden goodbyes" at Transport for London after it was revealed by the Evening Standard that over £100m had been paid to executives leaving TfL.
The crackdown means that the existiing notice period for individuals in managing director posts will reduce from a year to six months, whilst new appointments in these roles will be capped at a three month notice period.
After the Evening Standard obtained information via a freedom of information act request, they revealed that the size of the pay-offs had been kept under wraps for a number of months.
The "golden goodbyes" reached eye-watering levels with Leon Daniels receiving £444,598, and Garrett Emmerson, who received £245,579. The total sum leaving TfLs coffers reached more than £100m to 1,552 staff members.
Consultant Dawn Jarvis, produced a report which stated that all exit packages should carry no more than three months notice as well as stating that all staff earning more than £100k shoukd face a review.
Sadiq Khan stated that payment agreements for senior staff must be transparent.
