Cab driver loses licence after performing doughnuts in his vehicle with 8 year old passenger to avoid parking warden

18 Feb 2019

A mum claims a cab driver performed 'doughnuts' in his vehicle to provoke a parking warden while her 8-year-old son was locked inside.

Claire Rowbottom, 35, was in the cab on the way to an appointment with eight-year-old son George, when she asked the driver to stop at a  shop so she could pick something up.

George said he would stay in the cab while his mother went into the shop.

A report in the Teeside Live alleged that while she went inside the store, there was an altercation between the driver and a parking warden where the vehicle was parked.

Claire said that she saw the driver of the cab doing "doughnuts" and spinning the vehicle around, saying her son was "literally scraping the windows" to get out.

Young George, frightened from by the altercation, flung himself at his mother screaming 'there's been a fight'.

The driver had allegedly been asked to move his vehicle but instead got out to confront the warden.

Claire claimed the driver swore at her son during the altercation with the warden, leaving him traumatised.

Stockton Council revoked the driver's licence following the incident in December.
