The driver of a private hire vehicle which was involved in a crash which claimed the life of a passenger has died, police confirmed on Thursday 14.
Passenger Michelle Jennings, who was 35-years-old, was killed in the crash while travelling in the Ford Mondeo which was involved in a collision with a BMW during the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 27.
The police have now confirmed the tragic news that the driver, 51-year-old Dave Sherwin, has also died from his injuries. He passed away in hospital on Wednesday, March 13.
Police made a fresh plea for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
A police spokesman told the Liverpool Echo: "The 51-year-old male taxi driver, died on Wednesday in hospital."
The BMW driver - a 26 year-old man - has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Michelle Jennings has been described as 'the most lovely person ever' by her devastated family.
She leaves behind a devastated family , including husband Ged and children, five year-old daughter Sophia and son Harry, who is due to turn seven tomorrow.
Paying tribute to his ‘beautiful’ wife in an emotional post on Facebook, Ged said: “She was the most lovely person ever. Her kids were her world. Family was her everything. I am beyond distraught. I didn’t deserve her.”
