Minicab driver hit and run leaves woman with broken leg

27 Apr 2019

Amber Carter-Thompson, 28, was left with a fractured tibia after a minicab driver crashed into her while she was crossing a busy road in Northampton according to a report in The Sun.

Amber's mother has turned detective and tracked down CCTV of the crash after waiting a week for police to act.

The incident happened on April 19, but after leaving voicemails with police wondering what stage of their investigation they weren't at for a whole week, her mother rang local businesses to see if any had CCTV footage of the incident.

Within six hours of taking matters into her own hands, Amber's mother, Gail Thompson, got hold of footage of the collision.

She said it was "fairly disheartening" police had not contacted the shops as they said they would.

28-year-old Amber was crossing Wellingborough Road at about 23:00 along with a friend when the minicab drove into her leg,

Police spoke to her in the ambulance and the following day she was told to expect a call on Monday or Tuesday, but it never came.

In a post on Facebook her mother pleaded with anyone in the area who may have seen the crash to come forward.

She wrote: "Did anyone on the Wellingborough Road, Northampton, at about 10pm on Friday night see a minicab hit my daughter and drive off?

"She's now in hospital with a fractured tibia and has to have an operation to set it. Please share and catch this scumbag."

Northamptonshire police have appealed for witnesses to the collision to come forward.
