Ride-hailing app Kapten editing drivers’ profile photos to make them look like they are wearing suits

23 Jun 2019

It's been revealed in Wired that ride hailing-app Kapten are editing their drivers’ profile photos to make them look as though they are wearing suits.

The company, formerly known as Chauffeur Prive, had in the past encouraged drivers to don a uniform consisting of a suit and red tie. However because the rule regarding wearing a uniform has been relaxed, Kapten are now altering drivers’ attire in their identity photographs in a bid to standardise the company's imagery.

Kapten has said that although the pictures are of a standardised bust of a driver wearing a blue suit, the driver’s face will never be altered or edited.

However it emerged that the alterations had come as a bit of a surprise to one or two drivers on social media, with one stating that he logged onto the app and saw that his photo had been edited, while another driver who commented on the Uber People platform said he "looked smart”.

The French firm which rebranded and changed its name to Kapten last February is backed by BMW and Daimler.
