Lorry driver fighting for his life after serious M25 crash involving a London taxi

11 Jul 2019

A lorry driver had to be airlifted to hospital and is now fighting for his life after a huge crash on the M25.

The crash involving an articulated lorry, a London Taxi and a red Citroen, means the motorway between junctions 9 and 10 is likely to remain shut for six to eight hours, Surrey police tweeted.

It is believed that the occupants of both the London taxi and the red Citroen are unhurt.

An air ambulance was rushed to the scene to fly the lorry driver to hospital, after his vehicle jackknifed, where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Traffic on the motorway backed up for around 30 miles and commuters are being urged to seek alternative routes.

This is affecting commuters in and around Essex as they use the busy ring road.

Surrey Police tweeted at 8.12am: "M25 nine to 10 from Highways England likely that closure will remain for six for eight hours due to fuel spillage."
