Undeclared speeding convictions lead to Bolton private hire driver suspension

10 Aug 2019

A Bolton private hire driver has apologised to a licensing sub-committee after failing to declare a number of speeding convictions leading to his suspension.

The unnamed driver, who also had a mobile phone offence registered against him, accrued three speeding fines in the space of four months.

The sub-committee meeting, which took place at the town hall, heard that the driver had already attended two speed awareness courses. He had also failed to declare two of the convictions within the required time frame as specified under the conditions of his licence, being five and ten days late respectively.

According to The Bolton News the driver apologised to the sub-committee and promised not to repeat the offences.

The sub-committee expressed concern that the driver had slipped into a pattern of questionable driving which put the public at risk. As a result, they suspended his private hire licence for twelve weeks, with councillors stating that the driver is not a fit and proper person to currently hold such a PHV licence.
