Cabbie jailed after assaulting partner in Nottingham city centre

21 Aug 2019

A Doncaster cab driver who attacked his partner in Nottingham city centre has been jailed.

40 year old Loui Moses, who is also a festival organiser, was caught on CCTV beating his partner of 13 years in George Street, Nottingham on 19 August.

Moses admitted the assault when he appeared before Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 20 August.

The court heard how CCTV showed him hitting and kicking the woman several times before pushing her into the road and mocking her.

He then continued berating the woman after police had arrived.

Police officers had to rely on CCTV evidence because the woman did not make a statement.

The couple had been out together when an argument began because Mr Moses said it was time to go, however, the woman went back to a nightclub.

Staff at a nearby hotel then called the police after they became concerned about her welfare during the argument.

Despite the remorse shown by Moses during his trial, District Judge Leo Pyle imposed a 14 week jail term and ordered him to pay £100 compensation to his partner.

According to Nottinghamshire Live, the conviction could mean that Mr Moses loses his cab licence as well as his licence to provide alcohol at festivals.
