Private hire licence refused to man who was convicted of possessing class A drugs almost ten years ago

25 Sep 2019

A man who in 2010 was convicted of two offences of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply, has been refused a private hire driver’s licence by Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council.

Minutes from the applicant’s hearing revealed the driver had applied for a private hire licence but their DBS check highlighted the convictions for the offences carried out in 2008.

Members of a licensing sub-committee made the decision to reject the application based on Institute of Licensing guidance which says 10 years should pass between a conviction and the granting of a licence.
