Spanish taxi drivers go on strike over Uber and Cabify

Taxi drivers across the country have gone on strike over the rise of online taxi service Uber and Cabify.

Cities had their taxi service brought to a standstill after drivers raised complaints over the practices empolyed by some drivers. However Cabify and Uber deny the accusations.

The Spanish Taxi Federation Fedetaxi has called for the creation of a publicly run website or app that will allow people to book a taxi anywhere nationally. The idea is to be presented to Congress after a march in Madrid today.
