Uber drivers welfare at the heart of Department for Transport analysis

The controversial minicab firm Uber may be about to face tighter requirements on both pay and workers rights. The Department for Transport have committed to setting up a working party to analyse the guidance given to local authorities, ahead of a larger government review into the much maligned 'gig' economy. The implications for not only Uber, but other gig companies could be huge if the report finds out working conditions are poor and wages are below minimum standards.
