Taxify applies for London operators licence

The Estonian based ride-hailing app, Taxify, have applied for an operators license in London.

Transport for London are yet to confirm whether the app, similar to the controversial Uber model, are to be granted the opportunity to work in the capital.

Taxify will compete with Uber almost identically by offering the public low cost rides, but will charge its drivers a reduced fee of 15% to lure them away from its rival.

Whilst the company has yet to receive the go-ahead to work in London, it has been recruiting drivers. Sources say that Taxify could be operational in just a few weeks.

With questions remaining as to whether Uber will be given a renewed operating licence in September, this application could provide an indication as to where its rivals future lies to.
