Gig economy firms to face more questions from select committee

Officials from tech companies including Uber and Deliveroo will be requested to attend Westminster for another round of questioning over working conditions by the parliament's Business select committee.

Chair of the committee, Labour MP Rachel Reeves, said she wanted to take a second glance at how the market worked for self-employed workers in this new 'disruptive' area of employment.

Reeves MP went on to say that the committee would demand top executives from both Uber and Deliveroo to attend and give evidence as well as some of their self employed workers.

"I don't really buy this idea that Deliveroo and Uber go down the self-employed model because it's so great for the workers and that's the only thing the workers want to do," Reeves MP told the Financial Times.
